This panel follows up on last year’s successful panel hosted by the Hartford Committee of CAPABA entitled “Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling.” The Bamboo Ceiling refers to barriers to success faced by Asian Americans in the community and workplace.
Approaches to disassembling the barriers faced by Asian Americans and other minorities have undoubtedly been impacted by the recent election, the associated rise of nationalistic and xenophobic rhetoric, and the increasing volume of those viewpoints. Community leaders are still reacting to this cultural shift to dull the adverse impact of this rhetoric on the Asian American and other minority communities.
In our second “Bamboo Ceiling” panel, we invite you to discuss the fallout from this election cycle on diversity, and strategies for maintaining the progress in diversifying the community and workplace to be more inclusive.
