Recent Developments in Delaware Corporate Law roundtable dinner discussion group. Please join your fellow CAPABA members for a book-club style discussion over dinner and cocktails to refresh your recollection of landmark cases that continue to shape current business practice and to hear about a few recent but hugely impactful opinions coming down from the Delaware Supreme Court and Court of Chancery. We will be discussing a wide range of topics: activist investors, proxy access, conflicts of interest, fiduciary carve-outs, aiding and abetting liability of third party advisers, and the demise of disclosure-only settlement in M&A litigation.
Space is limited. Please RSVP by June 15th.
The Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association invites you to join us on Saturday, February 25th from 9: 30 am to 12 pm as we volunteer with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission at its donation center located at 1690 Connecticut Avenue in Bridgeport. Lunch to follow at Pho Hong Thom! Please RSVP by February 23rd to Susie Kirkeby at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This panel follows up on last year’s successful panel hosted by the Hartford Committee of CAPABA entitled “Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling.” The Bamboo Ceiling refers to barriers to success faced by Asian Americans in the community and workplace.
Approaches to disassembling the barriers faced by Asian Americans and other minorities have undoubtedly been impacted by the recent election, the associated rise of nationalistic and xenophobic rhetoric, and the increasing volume of those viewpoints. Community leaders are still reacting to this cultural shift to dull the adverse impact of this rhetoric on the Asian American and other minority communities.
In our second “Bamboo Ceiling” panel, we invite you to discuss the fallout from this election cycle on diversity, and strategies for maintaining the progress in diversifying the community and workplace to be more inclusive.
